Vintage Estates Homes was the best out of the 3 home builders I went to see. Lisa in the model home was amazing and made me feel so comfortable. I immediately felt confident picking them to build our home! Thanks to my realtor who brought me to see them!
You may be surprised that this is a one star review. There is a good reason to be surprised. Just like me, you probably visited a model or saw an ad online for a beautiful spacious house that is in your price range and that led you to believe in the American dream. And just like me you may have put a deposit down to purchase one of these wonderful homes. But please be aware that Vintage Estate Homes is not obligated to tell you that the homes that are built in Country Club Estates are built on previously poisoned land that at one time was home to an abandoned golf course. What the bad thing is, in fact, the horrible thing, is that they are not disclosing the information in advance that there was poisonous arsenic used on that golf course that built up to very high levels that made it illegal to build on until they dug all the arsenic poisoned dirt out. It took a concerned old lady from the neighborhood next door to clue my wife, child and myself in to this life changing fact. I couldn't imagine my daughter playing in the backyard on grass that was once poisoned well beyond the legal limit. I asked them for an explanation and I was given a letter of proof that many acres of the poisonous arsenic dirt were removed and the arsenic was now in the legal limit for that particular section. I actually proceeded with the plan to build there. But it was gnawing at me day and night. There was deadly poison there at one time, I kept thinking, and as I began to read more and more I could not sleep and had absolutely no peace about it. The fact that they didn't even bother to tell us troubled me so much. This shows what I consider no concern for my family's decision making process. To find this out after the fact implies so much to me. I could not live there at that point. No ground had been broken and no plans were given to us to sign at that point. It was very early in the building process, yet they refused to refund our deposit money. So, I am writing this review to warn others about the previously arsenic poisoned ground at Country Club Estates because Vintage Estate Homes did not warn me in advance of this situation. Signed, Don't be surprised.
I applied for a job. Met with the Construction Manager. He was on time. Straight forward with his expectations. His likes and dislikes. This company works in several states with different levels of finishing. Building high end homes for years I could see myself working for them. I believe an offer from them was forth coming but not in the range I needed and I took a closer offer. The home I walked with the Manager was almost complete. The jobsite was spotless. The subs there had nothing but praise for VE Homes. Highly recommend you at least check them out.
Buyer beware! My husband and I had a home built by Vintage Estate homes that was “completed” in November 2017”. This is the largest and most expensive home this region has ever built. As I type this review we are still waiting for 30 day warranty items to be addressed. I wish this was the worse of the nightmare. It actually started during the build process. Of all the things that should have been red flags for us the most egregious was the day my husband stopped by the office to address some issues we were having with the purchasing manager Chris Wiley. There was no one at the desk and he so happened to walk in as said manager was complaining about our request for sourcing Wolfe appliances. In his attempt to teach us a lesson - he told his office mates that he intended to up-charge us beyond the normal markup builders usually leverage. This is but one example of the lack of integrity exhibited by the Jacksonville team. To make matters worse they had the audacity to ask us if they could have our home photographed because every bit of the interior fixtures had to be sourced because they had low quality builder grade options in their design center. Fast forward to current day - we have consistently been lied to and led on as it relates to the damage to our black wood floors - that were installed and damaged by trades. The floors have drywall dust that cannot be removed - we have had countless “flooring experts” brought in by Vintage - none of which seem to have a solution - 2 years later. We have been told by Steve Hogg and Wayne Campbell that they would resolve the remaining issues once and for all and still no solution. We feel hostage in our own home and do not feel Vintage Estates and their representatives have acted in good faith to bring this issue to closure. We have accommodated all the antics leveraged to stall the inevitable replacement of our floors (which by the way would be a complete inconvenience) but appears to be the only way to get the very expensive floors we paid for. We are very dissatisfied customers. The courts will be our next and final attempt to resolve this. Vintage do the right thing because it is the right thing to do! Below please find a photo of the condition of our floors - they are supposed to be matte, solid black ebony floors. The second photo was taken in the design center where I made selections. This sample by the way had to be sourced - it was not originally in the design center as was the case with many of my selections.
